LRGP – Japanese GP – Qualifying – Lotus Renault GP Report

A return to form for Lotus Renault GP, with Bruno Senna bouncing back from a third practice accident to take 8th on the grid. Both cars made it through to Q3 as the team had previously predicted, but opted to save tyres at a track where tyre degradation looks to be key to the race.

Bruno Senna, R31-04
P8 1:32.297 (Q2 time) 12 laps

Vitaly Petrov, R31-06
P9, 1.32.245 (Q2 time) 17 laps

Lotus Renault GP bounced back to form at Suzuka with both cars making it to Q3 and into the top ten for tomorrow’s Japanese Grand Prix.

LRGP – Back in the hunt at Suzuka

Lotus Renault are hoping to show a vast improvement over their Singapore performance at Suzuka, fortunately they think the Japanese circuit will play to their strengths…

“I expect us to be much more in the hunt than we were in Singapore,” says LRGP’s Technical Director, James Allison.

“There are just two slow corners at Suzuka, and the R31 is much more at home on flowing, faster tracks. I will be disappointed if we are not in the top 10 cars in qualifying to give us an opportunity to exorcise the disappointment of Singapore.

Classic Team Lotus – Third Quarter 2011 Roundup

Classic Team Lotus have posted up their round-up of their activities during the last three months in their Quarterly Review.

We start this quarter off with the Goodwood Festival of Speed. We would like to say a very big thank you to Nick Fennell, Andrew Beaumont, Dan Collins, Joaquin Folch and Andrew Morris for flying the Lotus flag in such splendid fashion at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed. And a salute to the Classic Team Lotus mechanics for preparing the running cars so well, such that that all five cars completed six runs each over three days without missing a beat. A great advert for the Lotus marque.

LRGP – Sodden in Suzuka

Looks like we could be in for a wet weekend in Suzuka if the latest LRGP blog posting is anything to go by…

The weather is revolting (well and truly) but there are reasons for the mood in the LRGP camp not to be. We have arrived in Japan in good spirits; the travails of Singapore are now behind us and we are in buoyant mood as we look forward to Round 15 of the season – the Japanese Grand Prix.
