Speculating on the Elise SPS…

There have been some questions lately arising in the forums the new SPS gearbox for the Elise, so we thought it would be worth doing some digging on this new addition to the Elise range…

While the Frankfurt Motor Show generated a lot of interest and excitement for the new V6 engined Exige S, supercharged Elise S, and the stunning Evora GTE, the other new addition to the Elise line up received relatively little attention…

The Elise SPS is a new option available for the new entry level Elise and Elise CR, adding for the first time in the Elises history the option of a paddle shift gearbox to sit alongside the 1.6l 1ZR-FAE engine. But what’s the box that sits alongside it?

Lotus Cars – More F1 Points & More GT4 Success

Lotus Cars reflect on the weekends racing, with a round up racing from the F1, British GT Championship and the Blancpain Endurance Series – with points in the F1 and wins the GT4 category for both of the Silverstone endurance events.

Following a great team performance the honour was left to Greg Mansell to bring the Evora GT4 over the finish line taking first place in the GT4 category but narrowly missing out on the Championship title as RJN Motorsport finished albeit three laps down.

‘We can be very proud this weekend finishing both the British GT Championship and Blancpain series with a win, it bodes well for 2012” said Group Lotus Motorsport Director Claudio Berro.

LRGP – Korean GP Build Up

A few pieces from LRGP in the build up to this weekends Korean Grand Prix…

LRGP – James Allison on the Korean GP – ”There is still much to learn about this track”

Which aspects of the car are crucial for a good performance at the Korean International Circuit?
JA: The Korean International Circuit is not a track which favours any particular aspect of the car; it’s one where the entire package has to be maximised.

LRGP – Eric Boullier on the Korean GP: “In many ways, 2011 has been a transitional year for us with a whole range of changes”

With only four races remaining, how much thought are you giving to 2012?
EB: Frankly speaking, a lot of my thoughts have now turned to next year. Whilst the priority remains securing fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship and helping nurture Bruno and Vitaly’s opportunities to score highly at the next four races, an increasing amount of my time is devoted to seeing how we can raise the bar.

Lotus Cars – Back on track in Suzuka

Lotus Cars talk to Lotus Ambassador Jean Alesi and ask him what he thought of Lotus Renault GP’s performance in Singapore, and reflecting on Vettel’s fantastic season.

Lotus Renault GP got both cars in the top ten in qualifying, which must have come as a relief after all the head-scratching in Singapore?

It was uncomfortable to watch the pace in Singapore. They weren’t as competitive as they should have been, but things were back on track in Suzuka. Qualifying was impressive, and this is at one of the most demanding circuits ever built. So that’s encouraging but based on where they started I was disappointed with the result. Ninth and 16th: I expected a little better.

LRGP – Japanese GP – Race – Lotus Renault GP Race Report

Lotus Renault GPs Japanese GP Race Report is up, after a slightly disappointing race following on from the promise of practice and qualifying.

On his first pit stop on lap 18, Vitaly changed for another set of the Pirelli medium tyres before the safety car was deployed. He stopped once again 21 laps later, this time moving onto the soft tyres, which crucially allowed him to overtake both Force India cars and cross the finishing line in ninth position.

Bruno meanwhile suffered from a tricky first lap, slipping back four places into 13th. He adopted the same strategy as Vitaly (medium, medium, soft) as he endured a race full of traffic before crossing the line in 16th position.
