LRGP – Saturday Qualifying – Brazilian GP

Bruno Senna pulled out all the stops in front of his home crowd in qualifying, making it all the way through to Q3 to line up 9th on the grid for tomorrows race.

The Brazilians performance was made all the more impressive as he’d suffered from technical worries in practice which limited his track time in the morning.

A dry first days practice at Interlagos, with Romain Grosjean driving in place of Vitaly Petrov in FP1 before the Russian took back his seat for FP2.

LoTRDC confirm new championship for 2012

LoTRDC have announced a change of format for the 2012 Lotus Cup UK series, with the splitting of the series into the Production and SuperSport Championship.

Additionally the V6 engined Evora, which was introduced to Lotus Cup Europe this year, and the new Exige S will be eligible to race in the Lotus Cup UK SuperSport championship.

Elise S and Exige S Delivery Dates

News has come through on when buyers can expect to start seeing the first Elise and Exige S’s for customer delivery.

The Elise S, based around the new supercharged 2ZR-FAE engine, is expected to start customer deliveries in either the March or April of next year, while the V6-engined Exige S is not scheduled to arrived until the 2nd quarter of 2012, putting it in to the April-June time frame.

Dealer demo cars are still expected to start arriving in January or February, meaning those still sat on the fence will have a chance to drive the cars before they start arriving with customers.

LRGP – Robert Kubica to miss start of 2012 Season

Lotus Renault GP driver Robert Kubica, who was injured and almost lost an arm in a horrific rally accident, has confirmed that he will not be on the grid come the start of the 2012 season.

Robert Kubica has today informed Lotus Renault GP that, despite having started an intensive training programme, it is still too early for him to commit to driving in the 2012 championship. Robert’s progress remains impressive – he can now walk freely, and move his hand and elbow -, but he feels that he needs more time to return to full fitness.

LRGP – Brazilian GP Buildup

The Lotus Renault GP team is preparing for the final Grand Prix of the season at the famous Interlagos circuit, and has posted up a selection of interviews ahead of the race next weekend.

I am very excited about racing in my homeland. I did, in fact, travel straight to Brazil from Abu Dhabi to prepare for everything. It’s going to be another difficult race because of the type of circuit we are facing.

Lotus Magazine – Issue 4 – State of the Art

Issue 4 of the Lotus Magazine – “State of the Art” is out now.

The cover features a painting by artist Richard Phillips of former adult actress Sasha Grey in an Evora. Inside Philips talks about his move from painting to directing with a feature length film for the Venice Biennale, starring Sasha Grey and Lindsey Lohan – a controversial pairing to say the least.

Elsewhere inside Adam Hay-Nicholls visits the Classic Team Lotus workshop for chat with Clive Chapman and take a look at some of the iconic Lotus F1 cars the company runs and maintains to this day, Lars Jenson asks international rock star about his personal favourite Lotus’s, and the Lotus Legends section features ‘Super Mario’, the former Team Lotus driver and world champion Mario Andretti.

LoTRDC – Elise Trophy and Lotus Cup UK Calanders Announced

The Lotus on Track Racing Drivers Club have published their calendar of UK events for the Elise Trophy and Lotus Cup.

Notable additions over this years calendar include a return to Castle Combe and Anglesey for the Elise Trophy, with Lotus Cup UK also running at Castle Combe along with a trip across the channel to the Belgian Zolder circuit.

The 2011 format of racing is retained, with 2 x 20 minute races for the Elise Trophy, and a 1 hour race for Lotus Cup UK. You can find the full calendar below, with Lotus Cup Europe dates set to be unveiled in the new future. Continue reading →
