Lotus F1 Team – Australian GP – Sunday Race

An action packed race for the Lotus F1 Team today, with disappointment for qualifying star Romain Grosjean, who retired after contact with Williams driver Maldonardo in the early stages terminally damaged his suspension, while Kimi Räikkönen raced through from 17th on the grid to finish a strong 7th, helped by an incident packed last lap.

Lotus F1 Team – Australian GP 2012 – Saturday Qualifying

A mixed bag for Lotus F1 Team today in qualifying, with Romain Grosjean putting in a stunning performance to line up 3rd on the grid, while Kimi Räikkönen suffered from traffic and a mistake in Q1 leaving him with a lot to tomorrow as he starts 17th after Perez was given a 5 place penalty for gearbox issues.

Lotus F1 Team – Australian GP 2012 – Friday Practice

A wet first day at the season opener in Melbourne meant a disrupted programme for the Lotus F1 Team, with Räikkönen – who suffered a re-occurrence of the power steering issues from Barcelona – and Grosjean completing just 15 and 27 laps respectively.

Lotus Cars – Lotus To Star At 2012 Goodwood Festival Of Speed

Lotus are set to star at this years Goodwood Festival of Speed, with a large presence planned, along with the promise of an attempt to break the hills record time, set in 1999 by Nick Heidfeld in a McLaren, in this years Lotus-Renault E20.

Lotus No Longer Paying For F1 Sponsorship?

Are Lotus no longer paying for sponsorship of the Lotus F1 Team? It would appear so!

In an interview on SpeedTV Lotus F1 Team Chairman, and Genii Group, boss Gerard Lopez stated the Group Lotus is no longer paying to sponsor the team in 2012.

But wasn’t the whole point of the name change the fact that Group Lotus would continue to pump in funds?

“No, they don’t have to,” says Lopez. “They were the title sponsor, and it’s actually been solved in a completely different way. They have and they don’t have to anymore, they’ve done what they have to do, to be very precise.”

The interview certainly makes interesting reading, with Lopez refusing to rule out the possibility of a takeover of Group Lotus in the future – something which would seem logical given that Lotus F1 Team are now essentially giving the company millions in advertising for free…

Lotus Exige on the Goodwood Hill

It seems to be a day for 1 minute videos today, with PistonHeads posting up an on-board video of Lotus Chief Tester Matt Becker taking the new V6-engined Exige S up the Goodwood Hill in a scant 60 seconds as part of the Goodwood 2012 Preview Day yesterday.

As part of the partnership, Microsoft Dynamics solutions, which are designed to enable organizations to be more agile and globally competitive in today’s business environment, will be implemented at Lotus F1 Team’s Enstone, England, base to facilitate the team’s business transformation. For the duration of the agreement, Microsoft personnel will work directly with Lotus F1 Team to continuously transform and optimize operations towards a world class facility.
