PistonHeads Sprint an Evora S at Goodwood

PistonHeads have an interesting piece online, with writer Dan Trent tackling the GRRC Easter Monday Sprint at Goodwood in the Evora S GP Edition.

Dan and the Evora S both performed admirably in the wet conditions, finishing 3rd in class behind a pair of 4WD Nissan Skylines and ahead of an R35 GTR, 911 GT3s and SELOC member ‘Bliss’ in his Exige S…

If you’re interested it in giving it a go for yourself then the SELOC Speed Championship is visiting Goodwood for Round 3 of the series on April the 28th.

Lotus Sport UK – Lotus Sport UK Take Pole Position At Oulton Park

A great start to the year for the Lotus Sport UK team at Oultan Park, with 3rd and 4th on the grid in Race 1 for the teams Evora GT4s followed up by a pole position for Race 2.

Phil Glew took the #48 Lotus Evora to its first pole position of 2012 for round 2 of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park.

Qualifying for Round 1 saw the two Lotus cars take third and fourth places in the GT4 class before stepping up the pace in the second session.

Talking of qualifying Phil Glew said “It feels great to be back out in the Evora. The team have made some small, but significant changes to the car over the winter, and it feels brilliant. Qualifying went to plan and we just pipped the Ginetta to pole, so I’m really happy with that.” Continue reading →

Maidstone Sports Cars Joins the Lotus Cup UK Grid

Maidstone Sports Cars have announced they will be joining the Lotus Cup UK grid with a Honda powered S1 Exige, running in the Open Class.

MSC had previously competed in the Elise Trophy, but left after the 2009 season following rule changes which ruled out their Honda converted cars to compete in the Britcar series.

Lotus Cars – Top Ten Finish for Lotus At Barber

After running well in the St Petersburg race, Sebastien Bourdais delivered on the promise shown in the season opener to bring the Lotus Dragon Racing #7 car in 9th place in this weekends race at Barber Motorsport Park.

The Lotus engined teams appear to have got on top of their electrical issues which saw 3 of the 5 Lotus entries drop out at St Petersburg, with all but Alex Tagliani making their way in to the final classification.

Lotus F1 Team – Kimi: “I Feel Comfortable With the Team”

Lotus F1 have posted an interview with driver Kimi Räikkönen, talking about the team and his progress in the first two races this year.

Now that you’ve had time to reflect on the first two races, how has the season been for you so far?

I think we’ve got off to an encouraging start. It’s been frustrating sometimes with the chassis issues in testing, the qualifying mix-up in Australia and the gearbox change in Malaysia, but we’ve shown we can deal with any problems and come back stronger. It feels like I’ve never been away; the team has done a good job and I’m working well with them which makes things easier. The car feels good and we clearly have the pace to be at the front; we just need some better luck.

Lotus Cars – Rallying – St Remo Test

Lotus took their new rally challenger, the Exige R-GT, over to St Remo for a shakedown test ahead of it’s début next month in the FIA European Rally Championship Italy’s Rally 1000 Miglia, held on the 19th-21st of April.

Discussion: SELOC Chat – Lotus Exige R-GT rally car

The Lotus International Rally team headed to the legendary rally Tarmac of St Remo, Italy, with works drivers Bernardo Sousa and Luca Rossetti. The Exige ran for 85km on Tuesday and 75km on Wednesday this week, and the testing was largely trouble free except for a small supercharger problem, which was remedied by changing the compressor belt. The team will carry out another two-day test ahead of the R-GT’s race debut in FIA European Rally Championship on 19-21 April in Italy’s Rally 1000 Miglia. Continue reading →

SELOC Speed Championship 2012 Update

We’re two rounds in to the SELOC Speed Championship 2012, with events at North Weald and Castle Combe this month.

Loafingwafu leads the pack, so watch below and if you want to take him on be sure to sign up for the championship ahead of our next event at Goodwood on Saturday the 28th of April. Don’t worry if you car isn’t a 350bhp supercharged monster, our equivalency system ensures all competitors have an equal chance of taking the honors.

Another new dealership opening as Lotus continue their work to expand in to emerging markets, with F1 driver Kimi Räikkönen and CEO Dany Bahar in attendance.

This latest showroom in Beirut follows on from other openings in Beijing and Warsaw in the last year.

The legendary marque is opening a new dealership in Beirut in partnership with leading Lebanese automotive dealer RYMCO and luxury real estate and management company Zardman.
