Gregory Rasse proved to be too quick for Jon Walker in the battle of the V6 drivers as Lotus Cup Europe headed to Dijon-Prenois. The Englishman’s Exige was the class of the field in qualifying but when it came to the races, his Belgian rival was able to keep up the pressure in the Evora, taking the lead on both occasions.
Xavier Georges headed the chase in his four-cylinder 2-Eleven but despite an impressive performance in qualifying, was unable to stay with the leaders. He took a strong third in race one, before losing out to the more powerful cars of Nikolaj Ipsen and Thierry Verheist as well as team mate Jeremy Lorenco in an entertaining second encounter. Meanwhile the 340R of David Harvey took a double win in the Open class.
Thomas Dehaibe and Laurent Feve shared the Production class honours, with the latter enjoying a battle with Charlotte Burridge in both races.
The championship enjoyed another packed entry, with 29 cars taking to the classic French circuit for the second round of the newly FIA-accredited series. The next Lotus Cup Europe race will take place at Germany’s Hockenheim in June.
