It’s been well over a year since Lotus announced the Elise SPS, which was set to use an hydraulically automated version of the Elises EC60, while both the Evora GTE and Exige S Roadster have been shown with SPS gearboxes pair up the standard EA60 gearbox with a similar hydraulic pack to provide paddle shifting.

Since then however little has been heard of the SPS gearbox and the option has disappeared from both the Elise and Exige Specification pages on the Lotus Cars website, seemingly because the design was unable to deliver the required levels of performance and smoothness of operation.
