The Jim Clark Memorial Clock Tower in the former Team Lotus drivers home town of Chirnside has stood since 1969 as a tribute to one of the greatest racing drivers to have ever lived, so when SELOC member ‘hauxleablaze‘ noted on a visit to the town that the tower had seen better days it was clear what needed to be done.
With the ever helpful Michael Hipperson taking charge, restoration work was carried out to bring the tower back to it’s former glory, cleaning and polishing the stone work and replacing the memorial plaque.
SELOC members, along with Clarks former mechanic, Cedric Selzer, and F1 journalist Peter Windsor, raised over £2,400 to pay for the work which was completed this month.
